This week’s spotlight is on The Institute for Scientific Information’s ISIHighlyCited. This resource, from the same folks that give you Science Citation Index, allows researchers to search for information a specific researcher, or to identify the most highly cited individuals in any of a number of scientific fields.
From the main page the “Search” link allows you to search for a specific researcher by name, allowing limitations for country, institution, and field. The “Browse” link allows you to browse the list of most highly cited individuals in a given field, country, or institution. The names returned link to an individual researcher page with biographical information, contact information, simple vita, and a link to publication lists. The entries in the publication list are hyperlinked to ISI’s abstract for that publication. One flaw is that the resource does not currently support a ranked list of researchers — it simply returns the researchers ISI has determened as the most highly cited in an alphabetical listing.
