Current Research
The Williams Center's research focus has evolved since its founding in 1991. Broadly speaking, studies underway by Center staff include University History, Civil Rights, Louisiana Politics, Military History, and Women's History. There are nearly fifty additional projects that focus on various subjects related to Louisiana history and culture.
Specifically, many of the Center's active, larger projects are the results of collaborations and partnerships, whereby Center staff is involved in almost every stage of project planning:
- Louisiana Sea Grant Coastal Change Oral History Project
- "I Remember..." Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, Restoration Act (CWPPRA) Oral History Art Show
- New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
- History of LSU Cooperative Extension
- Bayou Lafourche Oral History Project
- New Orleans Lower Ninth Ward Living Museum Oral History Project
- Women Pioneers of the Louisiana Environmental Movement
